Energy Optimized Cluster Based Routing Protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) comprises of many miniature wireless sensors that help newlineto sense, collect, process and transmit. The applications of WSNs include nuclear power newlineplants, environmental monitoring, disaster surveillance, agricultural control and security. newlineMajor power source of a sensor node is a battery unit and in most cases, it is very difficult newlineto recharge and replace the batteries as the sensors are usually deployed in remote newlineenvironments. Therefore, the key concern is to reduce the use of energy to prolong the newlinelifespan of the system. Due to the limitations of resources, designing an energy efficient newlinerouting protocol is the primary challenge in WSNs. Many research has been carried out on newlinethe development of various routing protocols to minimize the energy consumption of newlinesensor nodes. The contribution of this thesis is to develop distinct energy efficient newlineprotocols to reduce the energy utilization of sensor nodes and to improve their lifetime newline
