Abstract: Education plays a vital role in giving human beings proper equipment to lead a newlinegracious and harmonious life. Adolescence is a period when the intellectual, physical, newlinesocial, emotional and all the capabilities are very high. Unfortunately, in recent times, the newlineadolescents are unable to utilize their potential to maximum due to various reasons. Life newlineskills education bridges the gap between basic functioning and capabilities. Self esteem newlinestrengthens the ability of an individual to meet the needs and demands of the present newlinesociety and helps to get desired behavior. The main objectives of the study are to find out newlinethe level of core life skills, self esteem and academic achievement of adolescent students, newlinethe significant difference between the study variables with respect to the background newlinevariables and the relationship and influence of core life skills and self esteem on the newlineacademic achievement of adolescent students. Survey method is used for the study. The newlinesample consisted of 626 eleventh standard students studying in government, government newlineaided and private higher secondary schools of Hosur taluk. Three tools namely, Core life newlineskills scale developed and standardized by the investigator, Rosenberg s self esteem scale newlineand the scores in the half yearly examination secured by the sample students (academic newlineachievement) has been used to collect data. The research revealed that (i) the level of core newlinelife skills, self esteem and academic achievement of higher secondary students is found to newlinebe moderate. (ii)Significant difference found between male and female higher secondary newlinestudents in their core life skills and academic achievement. (iii)No significant association newlinefound in core life skills, self esteem and academic achievement of higher secondary newlinestudents with regard to parent s education, occupation and monthly income of the family. newline(iv)Significant difference in core life skills, self esteem and academic achievement found newlineamong type, nature and location of schools. The result revealed significant relationship newlinefound (v)
