Abstract: | In the present study, we prepared N-tert-amylacrylamide based copolymers newlineusing various acrylic/ acrylamide comonomers by free-radical polymerization at newline60oC.The acrylic /acrylamide comonomers were prepared by esterification reaction newlineof acrylic acid with respective alcohol/ amine. The NTA monomer and various newlinecomonomers like, 8-QA, 8-QMA, 2,4-DCPA, 2,4-DCPMA, ACU,MACU, PA , newlineNPAMwere used to prepare the copolymers. The formation of copolymers newlineconformed and characterized by 1H-NMR spectroscopy. The copolymer newlinecomposition was determined from the 1H-NMR spectral values. newlineThe TGA analysis showed two/three stage degradation, the first stage due to newlinedehydration of partially degraded amide groups and second stage degradation dueto newlinethe main-chain degradation and breakdown of the polymer backbone. The DSC newlineanalysis shows that there is increase in Tg value with increase of comonomer content. newlinePotentiodynamic polarization (PDP) and Electrical Impedance spectroscopy newline(EIS) methods were used to find out the IE%. The anti-corrosion property was newlinestudied at 0.05M H2SO4 in presence and absence of the synthesized copolymers as newlineinhibitors. Among all the copolymers, ACU containing copolymer showed maximum newlinecorrosion inhibition efficiency about 97.0%. When the feed ratios of comonomer newlineincreased/decreased the IE values are increased/decreased, but at equal molar feed newlineratio the IE% was maximum. A kind of block copolymers exhibited the increasing newlineIE value towards corrosion protection. newline |
