The laminated composites are paramount replacement to the conventional materials because of high strength stiffness to weight ratio non corrosiveness and so on The laminate composite plates are used in the field of aircraft substructures like ailerons and tail planes civil structure like ship hull and automobile industries The layer stacking sequences fiber orientation can be tailor made to suit the required mechanical properties and thickness These plates are generally subjected to severe transverse loads which leads to the occurrence of resonance In order to avoid the resonance the natural frequency and mode shape of the laminated composite plate has to be determined In the present research work modal analysis is carried out on laminated composite trapezoidal plate under various boundary conditions such as CFFF CFCF CCCC SFSF and SSSS For the modal study there are three types of laminated composite plates are investigated namely single lay up multi lay up and natural fiber laminated composite plates The first type is a single lay up composite plate made of Eglass Epoxy and Jute Epoxy materials which is fabricated by Hand Lay up method The second type is a multi lay up composite plates are made by Eglass Epoxy 14 layers and Basalt Epoxy 10 layers with fiber orientation of 0 45 0 45 0 45 0s and 0 45o 0 45o 0 s respectively The third type is a natural fiber lay up composite plates are made up of Ramie Polyester 4 Layers Jute Polyester 5 Layers and Ramie with Jute Polyester Hybrid 4 Layers with fiber orientation of 0 90 90 0 0 900 90 0 and 090 90 0 respectively The multi lay up and natural fiber lay up composite plates are fabricated by Compression Moulding method to reduce the void content The physical and vi mechanical properties of fabricated plates are determined experimentally in accordance with ASTM standards The determined elastic moduli are incorporated in finite element modal analysis using a state of art commercial software ANSYS 18 1 newline
