Present study was undertaken to evaluate the level of different hormones, serum proteins electrophoretic pattern and to find association (if any) between alteration in different hormones and serum proteins electrophoretic pattern in normal pregnant women and women experiencing spontaneous pregnancy loss till 20th week of pregnancy.Out of 120 participants (OPD and IPD, Adesh Hospital, Bathinda), 60 participants were clinically confirmed cases of miscarriage and 60 were gestational age normal pregnant women. newlineFor the ease of data representation, participants were distributed into different categories such as age, trimester, gravida, parity and area. The differences in number of participants between controls and cases were found to be significant for age (p=0.01) and gravida (p=0.001), while non-significant for parity (p=0.77), area (p=0.85), BMI (p=0.157) and educational status (p=0.157). On further analysis, mean age of participants at first pregnancy was high in cases (26.28±2.84) as compared to controls (25.55±2.6). The difference was significant for T3, TSH, prolactin and total proteins (pand#8804;0.05), while non-significant for and#946;-hCG and BMI. newlineFurther, no significant correlations was observed between total T3 and T4; total T4 and TSH, prolactin and and#946;-hCG and prolactin and TSH in both controls and cases (pand#8805;0.05), whereas, an inverse correlation was found between total T3 and TSH in total, 1st and 2nd trimester participants of cases and the correlation coefficient were r=-0.336 (p=0.009), r=- newline0.364 (p=0.032), r=-0.438 (p=0.002) respectively. Similarly, an inverse correlation newlinebetween total T3 and TSH was observed in total and 2nd trimester participants of controls. newlineExpression of different electrophoretic protein bands were found to be altered between controls and cases and the protein band of approximately 50 kDa was found to be highly expressed in 1st trimester and 2nd trimester of cases. After the processing, 365 different proteins were identified from the protein band of and#8275;50 kDa.
