Abstract: | Ayurveda is the ancient system of medicine. In recent years there have been renewed interest in developing and exploring in the depth of this science and hence to lead a healthy and happy life in future. newlineIn ayurvedic text the value of health has been elucidated by Acharya by explaining about Dinacharya,Rutucharya,etc.One among them is oral hygiene but these have been explored in the present clinical practise of Ayurveda.AcharyaSushruta has considered Danta as one of the types of Asthi specifically name it as Ruchakaasti. newlineIn relation to sankhya of Danta, Acharya Sushruta has mentioned 32. newline Acharya Sushrutha explains in Nidanasthana 16th chapter regarding Mukharogas are 65 in that he has also mentioned Dantaghata and Dantamoolaghatarogas in detail and specific treatment. newline In Ayurveda we get reference in Sushruta Samhita Chikitsasthana regarding DantaUtpatana while explaining the Dantanadi chikitsa but to my knowledge Acharyas have not mentioned painless tooth extraction in text. Presently practiced in some part of the country by some physician. newline Painless tooth extraction technique is based on the yogic principles i.e, Jalandara bandha. This technique is boon to the patient who are sensitive to Xylocaine and infections. newline Acharya Kashyapa considered teeth as the index of good health. Contemporary sciences also relate teeth as indication of age and health. newline newline |
