dc.description.abstractThe frame of the dissertation work entitled A Comparative Study of Kati Basti with Sahacharadi Taila and Maha Narayana Taila in the management of Gridhrasi(Sciatica) was undertaken with following objectives: newline To study the aetiopathogenesis of Gridhrasi in the light of both Ayurvedic and modern perspective. newline To assess the efficacy of Kati basti in the management of Gridhrasi. newline To assess the efficacy of Kati basti with Sahacharadi Taila and Maha Narayan Taila in the management of Gridhrasi newline newlineThe research methodology was derived essentially from the exhaustive Ayurvedic literature proper planning was done and no attempt was made to shift from the principles laid in the texts while conducting the study. newline It comprises of six sections viz newline1) Conceptual Contrive newline2) Drug Contrive newline3) Clinical contrive newline4) Discussion newline5) Summary newline6. Conclusion newline newlineThe Conceptual Contrive is sub-classified by two chapters namely Disease review and Kati Basti review . The conceptual part deals with the important fundamentals to understand Gridhrasi from Ayurvedic as well as modern point of view. Firstly, the Historical aspect of Gridhrasi is presented extending from Vedic era to present era. Previous research work carried out by various scholars on Gridhrasi has been incorporated. Concept of vata: physiological as well as pathological aspect along with brief description of the anatomical parts is mentioned. newlineIn this chapter a detail description regarding Gridhrasi according to Ayurvedic point of view has been given which deals with Etymology, Nidana Panchaka, Sapeksha Nidana, Sadhya-Asadhyata and Upadrava of Gridhrasi. At last Chikitsasutra of general Vatavyadhi w.s.r. to Gridhrasi has been discussed. newline Then description of Sciatica from modern point of view presented with the history of the disease, definition, anatomy and physiology of sciatic nerve, etiology, pathology, signs and symptoms, differential diagnosis and the diagnosis of the sciatica and in the last prognosis, management and preventive measures of sciatica has been discus
