Abstract: | Generally inverters play a major part in variable speed drives and it is unavoidable in industrial applications. Especially multilevel inverter has additional attention on medium voltage and high power applications. Three phase three wire multilevel converters have several advantages like reduced harmonics, reduced voltage stresses across switches, increased utilization of DC-link voltage, etc. In high power electrical drives, the multilevel inverters are deployed to address the issues like Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI), voltage stresses on the switches and harmonic distortions. Among the multilevel inverters, the Neutral Point Clamped Multilevel Inverter (NPC-MLI) has more demand and attractiveness due to its exceptional performances and advantages. Also it is more suitable for renewable energy systems. The NPC-MLI has major issues like the presence of Common Mode Voltage (CMV), Capacitor voltage unbalance and Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). newlineThe Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) control is implemented to the multilevel inverters to overcome the various issues in power converters. Among various PWM techniques Two Dimensional Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (2D-SVPWM) has more advantages like improved output voltage, better utilizationiof dc linkivoltage, lesser THD, reduced CMV and better capacitor voltage balancing.
