Abstract: | In the present study, Descriptive Survey method was used to study the aggressive behaviour of adolescents in relation to their academic stress, peer pressure, family climate and psycho-social school climate. The sample of study consisted of 800 adolescents from the four educational blocks in Pathankot district and it was selected by using stratified random sampling technique. Major findings include a significant and positive correlation between aggressive behaviour and academic stress and aggressive behaviour with peer pressure while significant and negative correlation was found between aggressive behaviour and family climate and aggressive behaviour with psycho-social school climate. No significant difference was found between the aggressive behaviour of male and female, rural and urban, government and private school adolescents while significant difference was found in the aggressive behaviour of adolescents belonging to joint and nuclear families. Adolescents from joint families were found to be more aggressive than the adolescents from nuclear families. Regression analysis includes the maximum contribution of academic stress, peer pressure and family climate to the prediction of criterion variable i.e. aggressive behaviour in case of total sample. Academic stress was found significant predictor in case of male adolescents while in case of female adolescents, academic stress and peer pressure were found significant predictors towards the criterion variable i.e. aggressive behaviour. This study would be very useful for policy makers, administrators, parents and teachers. newline |
