No modern communication without signal compression is possible Signal transmission without compression for real time applications is difficult as far as speed is concerned Also it is unable to allocate the bandwidth for uncompressed multimedia signals In this research work the transform block in image and video encoder was focused which is used to remove the spatial redundancy in both image and video signals The main aim of this work is to increase the quality of the reconstructed image without multiplication complexity in the frequency domain transformation stage Haweel Tarek 2001 introduced new square wave transform by retaining the sign of DCT Cintra 2011 proposed approximate DCT by multiplying DCT by 2 and rounding Potluri et al 2012 proposed multiplication free DCT for radio frequency applications Bayer 2012 and potluri2014 proposed approximate DCTs by matrix factorization and permutation which require only 14 additions newline
