Legislative and regulatory mechanism relating to renewable energy an analytical study

Abstract

Renewable resources are future of Energy Sector. Their potential to provide energy efficiency, energy security and sustainable development is remarkable. In pursuit of promoting green growth in the world, countries are strongly changing its energy policies and strategies in support of Renewable Energy technologies. In response to such dramatic developments, the study provides an overview on evolution of renewable energy technologies including the statistics on renewable energy deployment at the national and international level. The study provides the legislative and regulatory mechanism adopted by India for promoting clean energy growth and also highlights the barriers and challenges faced by the India in regulating renewable energy sector. In this study the legislations adopted by China who is the world leader in Renewable Energy Sector, have also been analysed. Considering ineffective legislative mechanism governing Renewable Energy Sector, the thesis recommends possible solutions for addressing existing barriers in regulating the Renewable Energy Sector. newline
