Abstract: The thesis examines Survivor s Guilt through characters in selected novels with the help of theories of Roberto Speziale-Bagliacca, Judith Herman and Erik Erikson. Feelings of guilt, blame, rage and remorse are the commonly encountered emotions among survivors, exposed to unpredictable traumatic events. However, guilt remains at the heart of these emotions. The characters of the novels are afflicted at psychological, physical and social levels and undergo various traumatic disorders. Yet they emerge unvanquished survivors who overcome upheavals and triumph over all tribulations. newline
