Abstract: | Bending of sheet metal is the most prevalent and needed process in the production industry This forming process of sheet metal has wide application in the areas of aerospace architectural medical telecommunication defence and electronics Bending process is the most productive and powerful process which satisfies the customer demands of greater accuracy in a very minimum formation time Air bending technique improves the flexibility of the bending process in which same set of tools are used for achieving the various bend angles This flexibility in turn gives a significant asset in terms of geometry and permanence and considerably reduces the lead time and employed in sheet metal industries The mechanical property namely corrosion plays a vital role which permits the gradual destruction of the appearance due to the effect of chemical reaction with the environment So the use of coated sheet comes to prevalence and it is in great demand One such material is nickel coated steel sheet which has high corrosion resistance Numerous investigations on air bending of sheet material have been carried out by many investigators in sheet bending process However experimentation with bending of nickel coated steel sheet is limited There are various types of investigation related to air bending process namely springback and bend force and the responses that need to be quantified The important reasons for the springback deviation are variation in the mechanical and dimensional properties of the material lubrication and other forming process parameters So the precise prediction of springback will be the solution for die design and also to control the process But the determination of springback is very hard as it presently depends on the designers experience and trialerror procedure newline |
