Abstract: Peer to Peer P2P network is a distributed computer architecture that facilitates direct exchange of information and services between individual nodes called peers rather than relying on a centralized server The problem of streaming in peer to peer networks has been studied by many researchers and most of them strove with the scheduling problem and throughput inefficiency This research work aims to solve some of these problems A multi attribute multirate video streaming technique is proposed in this research which is based on Particle Swarm Optimization PSO technique in peer to peer networks The proposed method identifies and collects the set of the chunk being available in each neighbour peer and computes multiattribute multirate streaming factor for each of the peers and based on particle swarm optimization method selects an optimal peer for each chunk of the video stream The Multi Attribute Multi Rate Video Streaming Factor is computed using the number of peers the chunk has the number of clients logged to the peer at each time window the bandwidth uplink speed and downlink speed of each peer which specify how fast the stream can be downloaded and how good is the bandwidth support and so on The proposed method increases the streaming throughput bandwidth usage and streaming efficiency of the peer to peer streaming and reduces the energy utilization of the video streaming in peer to peer networks newline
