Title: Teaching competency of female B Ed prospective teachers and their emotional intelligence ICT awareness and learning styles

Abstract: The present study is intended to find the Teaching Competency of Female B.Ed Prospective teachers and their Emotional Intelligence, ICT Awareness and Learning Styles. So the investigator used survey method to study the research problem. The population for the study includes the female B.Ed Prospective teachers studying in the colleges of education affiliated to the Tami Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai from the three southern revenue districts of Tami Nadu namely Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari. Sample for the study was 856 female B.Ed Prospective teachers were selected by randomly selected from the population. To collect the data for the study, Tools used were Teaching Competency Scale and ICT Awareness Scale developed and validated by Antony Gracious and Annaraja (2009), Emotional Intelligence Scale and Learning Styles Scale developed and validated by the investigator and guide (2015). The collected data were analysed by using the statistical techniques namely t -test, F test, Chi-Square test, Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Multiple Correlation. The major findings of the study shows that there is no significant influence of emotional intelligence, ICT awareness and learning styles on teaching competency of female B.Ed Prospective teachers. But the study revealed ICT Awareness of female B.Ed Prospective teachers is influencing their teaching competency. It also revealed that 9.2 percent of female B.Ed Prospective teachers are high in their Teaching Competency. The married are found better than Unmarried female B.Ed Prospective teachers in their Teaching Competency and the Order of birth of female B.Ed Prospective teachers is influencing their Teaching Competency. Moreover study revealed that 15.9 percent of female B.Ed Prospective teachers are high in their Emotional Intelligence. Co-Education college female B.Ed Prospective teachers are found better than Women college female B.Ed Prospective teachers in their Emotional Intelligence.
