Abstract: | In recent days wireless sensor network has been playing a significant role in various real life applications Many leading companies have invested huge amount in sensor technology to provide support for a whole range of applications The research in this field is still growing at a rapid pace Efficient designs of sensor network with energy constraints have brought many new research problems Some of the significant research problems in sensor network are optimal deployment and efficient scheduling of the sensors In some applications the region is accessible and so deployment of sensors in the necessary position is possible The crucial issue is to identify the number of sensors needed and deploy them in the optimal position to satisfy the coverage and connectivity constraints The region of the remaining applications is not accessible therefore excess sensors are deployed through air using aircraft or some other manner Research issues in this field are efficient scheduling of the redundant sensors to improve the network lifetime Five research problems concerning deployment and scheduling of sensors are discussed in this thesis The first research work namely optimal deployment of sensor with coverage constraints deals with identifying the optimal position for each sensor in the region to monitor the entire targets Discrete Haar wavelet transform is utilized to identify the position for each sensor newline |
