dc.description.abstract | The general power system network comprises of three sectors which includes generation transmission and distribution Distribution system plays a major role in providing electricity to the end users The distribution system gets power from transmission system in substation and transfers power through distribution transformer to consumers in radial network In recent days the performance improvement of distribution system attracts much attention in a view to provide un interruptible supply to the consumers with un balanced load The complexity of existing distribution networks are increasing at alarming rate due to increase in population of developing countries and technological development which leads to increasing power demand and sensitive loads In India the peak load met during the year 2017 is 156934MW among which 2608MW load is not satisfied which accounts for 1 6 of load demand In current scenario there is no sufficient power to meet the industrial peak demand and distribution utilities through central grid Hence the available resources are to be used efficiently to design a small generation unit in distribution side which is termed as Distributed Generation DG The integration of DG in distribution system to reduce distribution loss and to provide un interruptable power supply has been trending in last few years In the process of achieving the beneficial effects of DG integration the selection of location and size for DG is essential as the inappropriate placing may lead to deprive the performance of distribution system The DG sizing problem is solved by a proposed algorithm which combines the beneficial effects of Nelder Mead NM method and Cuckoo Search CS algorithm termed as Hybrid Nelder Mead and Cuckoo Search HNMCS algorithm. newline | |
