Abstract: | Since the days of industrialization, business enterprises are continuously changing in many aspects. Among other areas of change and innovations, organizations are experiencing that attitudes, behaviors, and expectations of employees are also changing. Business organizations can deal with their employees in the best possible and suitable ways, but they cannot own them. Therefore, it is vital for today s modern organizations to manage their employees with the perspective of better retention rate and high performance standards. In the present time, highly employable employees are less likely to be retained if they perceive organizational offerings are not substantially suitable for their individual interests and career prospects. As Indian economy is transforming into a knowledge based economy, it becomes more challenging for organizations to manage knowledge workers for they are better employable resource in comparison to their yesteryears counterparts. Employers are aware that happy and satisfied employee is a better productive resource, but for better business outcomes such happy and satisfied employees are required to be engaged and committed in the long run. newlineThe committed and engaged workforces have the potential to increase the organizational profitability through their superior performance. After 1991, and particularly in the past decade, Indian economy has witnessed a substantial growth. Consequently, employees are also exposed to better conditions of employment and financial rewards. Factors of engagement and motivation are varying at a faster rate. Commitment has become a myth, especially, in the private sector. Today s business enterprises are finding it difficult to formulate engagement strategies. HR practitioners are always struggling to identify universal ways that can fix this problem. However, the practitioners of HR has explored it a little, the literatures reviewed in the present study reveal that EE and OC are indispensable areas needing thorough academic research. newline |
