Abstract: The objective of this thesis is to provide a better network throughput, fairness and high energy efficiency to the User Equipments (UEs) by use of dynamic resource allocation. This thesis investigated the contribution of dynamic resource allocation in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) by improving the various metrics by reassigning the subcarriers to UEs based on the channel conditions. Recently many wireless applications have emerged and their use can cause interference among users. Traditional method such as frequency reuse techniques is used to handle the Inter cell Interference in cellular communication. Dynamic resource allocation is a general strategy to control the interference and enhance the performance of wireless systems. The basic concept of dynamic resource allocation is to divide the spectrum for utilizing the spectrum in efficient manner and deteriorates the interference effects through optimizing the measures such as transmitting power, transmission rate, bandwidth, modulation scheme etc. The challenging task in wireless communications is how to optimize the performance under the Quality of Service (QoS) at user side. More research is carried out in the area of energy consumption of UEs and the reduction of energy consumption of terminals is of great important in perspective of economical and environmental. This thesis shows the improvement in terms of throughput, Energy Efficiency and fairness through allocating the resources to the UEs in a coordinated way. Self Organized Resource allocation (SORA) algorithm is used to allocate the various groups of resources to the different groups of users to mitigates the interference at UE side and this shows an improvement of performance in terms of throughput and fairness. newline
