Abstract: | Continuous attention has been paid by the world countries towards environment pollution. The United Nation, an umbrella for all the countries, has been formulating strategies to control pollution especially the global warming. The developing countries like India and China have also serious concern over the environmental pollution issues. In the recent years, Indian government has been motivating the vehicle manufacturers in various means to produce pollution free motors as refrigerant released by automobiles cause severe damage to ozone layer and increases global warming. Numerous research studies have been carried out to retrofit the existing ozone depletion potential refrigerant. As a result, the chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) refrigerants used in the refrigeration systems have been replaced by hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerant with zero ozone depletion potential (ODP). The performance of a new HFC refrigerant is as good as the old CFC refrigerant. Even though HFC has zero ODP value, it is one of the main causes for global warming. Hence, so many research studies have been carried out to retrofit HFC refrigerant with a low ODP and globalwarming potential (GWP) values. t the initial stages, the refrigeration and air conditioning system have a major impact on ozone layer depletion due to the use of CFC refrigerants. Numerous research investigations on the alternate refrigerant have been focused on reducing the usage of refrigerants with high ozone depletion potential. newline |
