Abstract: | The present business scenario is fast changing with organizations trying to keep their foothold in the marketplace Customers are without doubt the key to the success of any organization since they contribute to the profitability of the business by availing of the products and services But to create loyal customers effort is required from the part of employees in delivering superior value to them With businesses focusing customers on one hand organizations and researchers on the other hand have delved into the factors that bring and keep customers to a business Thus employees are the key to the productivity of organizations Hence it is not only important to keep them motivated but also committed and loyal to the organization where they go the extra mile for the organization Referred to as employee engagement organizations plan different activities to keep the employees engaged with them in order to drive business results by giving a superior customer experience Various factors have been identified to drive engagement among employees viz providing relevant information connecting to the organizations vision and values provide development through training involve them in decisions regarding their work domain have an appropriate reward system etc These can be best achieved by Competency Mapping which is about defining and mapping the competencies for each role aligning them with the organizational vision and mission and employing them for HR functions The process involves employees to develop the competency dictionary for their respective positions roles thus feeling more engaged with the work organization newline |
