Abstract: The electrochemical oxidation reaction of metals and alloys are called corrosion Corrosion is a loss of material properties due to the chemical reactions between materials and its surrounding environment Both the materials and its environmental conditions such as oxygen chlorine sulfur air acid vapours acids bases formaldehyde gas sulfur containing gases ammonia gas and salt oils aggressive metal polishes water moisture in the air which are in contact with the materials determine the type and rate of material losses Corrosion is an outstanding phenomenon when considering the applications of metals and iron based materials All the industries in this world are mostly using iron based materials such as steel stainless steel etc in a wide range of applications Due to this reason it is a very important one to control and slow down the corrosion of materials to avoid an enormous amount of material losses by choosing the correct method of protection such as developing the coating and surface treatment on metals and materials to improve its corrosion resistance The World Corrosion Organization WCO calculated that about US$ 2 2 trillion are losses annually in the global due to that of a corrosion problem in the materials and of these 25 losses could be avoided by using wellunderstood protective techniques The corrosion issues are not only affecting the finances of the global which also affect the health and safety Corroded buildings bridges ship causes severe health issues and leads to death newline
