Certain investigations on efficient broadcasting in mobile AdHoc networks

Abstract

A group of mobile nodes that self configure to form a temporary network without a preset infrastructure or centralized management is Mobile Ad hoc Network MANETs MANETs can effectively exchange peer to peer information within devices which include portable fixed and wireless nodesThese are cheaper smaller and more powerful devices that make MANETs a fast growing network The broadcast operation is the most fundamental role in MANETs because of the broadcasting nature of radio transmission: when a sender transmits a packet all nodes within the sender s transmission range would be affected by this transmission In MANETs the issues like routing security scalability and energy play a vital role in broadcasting These issues can be improved by applying appropriate methods and new algorithms like clustering and stochastic game model routing Performance metrics such as packet delivery ratio throughput end to end delay are taken for evaluating the performance of broadcasting in MANETs Among different broadcasting methods the flooding Connected Dominating Set CDS and clustering are taken into account and compared Flooding is a very common approach which realizes the broadcasting in the MANETs owing to the independence of topology Normally the networks backbone infrastructure would be taken to be CDS of a particular graph The clustered architecture of a MANETs has the virtue of keeping the node information locally which is suitable for scalability newline
