Abstract: | In the current scenario communication is exclusively dependent on the widespread use of wireless mobile devices as there is a rapid increase in number of mobile users Mobile Ad hoc networks play a vibrant role in various environments such as emergency services the commercial environment which includes electronic payments making payments possible newlineanytime and anywhere business applications civilian environments home or office wireless networking education and in the entertainment industry Since certain types of wireless networks such as adhoc and mobile adhoc networks have no fixed infrastructure it is a very cumbersome task to maintain the routing topology between randomly moving mobile nodes In wireless network Topology control is referred to as the extension of the network newlinelifetime by saving energy and reducing interference between nodes This can be done by adding selective nodes in the network which reduces the power consumption as well as improves the life time of the network In reality topology control algorithms are subdivided into topology construction and topology maintenance The former constructs initial reduced newlinenetwork and the latter takes care of the lifetime of the network There are lot of issues in existing routing and topology control algorithms Most of the existing algorithms concentrate on energy consumption link failure node failure collisions due to interference prediction of node mobility path stability etc individually Among these the most important problem is the occurrence of frequent disconnectivity in the network due to energy depletion of a node when it actively participates in the transmission of control and data newlinepackets This expiration of a node due to energy depletion takes place as each node in MANET plays a dual role as a normal host and a router In spite vi of intermittent connectivity in MANETs topology has to be maintained to facilitate uninterrupted transmission between mobile nodes. newline newline |
