The materials with higher order optical nonlinearities have attracted newlineattention due to their applications in optical limiting optical switching image newlineprocessing and 3D data storage Application of nonlinear optical materials to newlinedevices will be a key to realize very fast and high capacity data processing newlinesystem For example the phenomenon of optical limiting is useful for newlineautomatic protection of human eyes and sensors against intense laser newlineradiation There is a continuing interest in development of optical materials newlinewhich would be suitable for manufacturing devices One of the possible newlineapproaches is utilizing third order nonlinear optical properties of organic newlinematerials In particular these materials have the ability to change the value of newlinethe refractive index under the action of applied optical field This property is newlineusually described in terms of the third order susceptibility or the nonlinear newlinerefractive index n2 Large values of these parameters can be achieved in newlinecertain classes of materials such as organic dyes with delocalised electrons newline newlineen_US
