Abstract: | newlineEnterprise Resource Planning ERP is a generic term for integrated newlineSystems ERP projects are a subclass of software projects often accompanied newlineby large scale organizational changes The underlying idea of ERP is to use newlineinformation technology IT to plan and integrate enterprise wide resources newlinebeyond the scope of traditional IT solutions This is done by bringing together newlineseveral core business functions into an integrated database to provide onetime newlinedata entry and seamless access to a single facet of information The newlinesoftware itself is designed for better longevity and is claimed to offer newlinenumerous features representing the best practices newlineWhile there is substantial evidence that ERP systems can deliver newlinegreat improvements the growing number of horror stories about failed or out of newlinecontrol ERP projects should certainly give managers the pause The same newlinefeatures which make an ERP system very desirable can simultaneously cause newlineits implementation to be a very complex and expensive task Measuring and newlineevaluating performance is a critical factor for ensuring the successful newlineimplementation of any information system IS In an ERP context newlineperformance evaluation can be considered particularly important because of newlinethe profoundness of the implementation effects newlineThough the ERP system is a packaged software most of the newlineresearch works on ERP are focused primarily on the managerial factors such newlineas change management end user training and top management involvement newlineand there isn t much research contribution from the viewpoint of software engg newline newline |
