Environmental quality analysis of ground water using GIS in Dharmapuri district Tamil nadu

Abstract

The groundwater status of Tamil Nadu is published with the assistance of Ford Foundation with an objective to create and to develop public awareness of groundwater resources It can be of use to the administrators planners financial institutions and general public as it sets guideline to meet the needs of agriculturists industrial water requirements and drinking water Dharmapuri district is located between latitudes N 11 45 49 to 12 30 54 and longitudes E 77 40 38 to 78 44 49 The total area of the district is 4659 40 Sq Km 3 46 of Tamil Nadu geographical area Hill and forest area covers 1346 25 Sq Km and the aerial extended plain area is 331315 Sq Km Dharmapuri is one of the natural resources regions The Summary of the present investigation about the integrated studies such as rainfall geology geomorphology land use land cover soil drainage lineament groundwater physico chemical thematic spatial investigation The recent technology was used for Remote sensing RS and Geographic Information System GIS of this research studies This integrated research was carried out in Dharmapuri district Tamil Nadu India newline
