Abstract: Wireless cellular communication system focuses on providing the most important feature namely Mobility When a node moves from one cell to another handoff will occurs to provide a continuous quality of service Handoff is mainly classified into soft handoff hard handoff horizontal handoff and vertical handoff The overall handoff mechanism consists of scanning selection and authentication phases Scanning and selection phase are the most expensive part of the entire procedure in terms of latency By considering the parameters Received Signal Strength (RSS) and delay accuracy for selecting the most appropriate Access Point (AP) or Base Station (BS) is less In the existing work the parameter RSS is the sole parameter considered which may affect the network performance in terms percentage of successful handoff In the proposed work network load along with RSS and proximity parameters are also considered for selecting the best AP or BS The proposed system improves the newlinepercentage of successful handoff compared with the existing method newline newline
