Abstract: Images are effective and efficient means for better understanding and powerful communication Image processing is one of the forms of digital signal processing that takes a natural raw image as input and the produced output may be either an processed image or a set of attributes In modern era it is necessary to process images from natural sources more than artificial sources that relatively occupies more memory space This necessitates to a better Image Processing Technique IPT to be identified to optimize the performance whose characteristics is defined by image parameters The IPT comprises of formation and enhancement of image Enhancement is further classified into visualization analysis and management In which image management plays a decisive role with expansion of Compression Archiving Retrieval and Communication Among which the compression is much more important Thus the Image Compression Technique ICT is given attention by considering the size of compressed file versus quality of decompressed image The principle of image compression is to reduce the amount of data required to represent a digital image It is achieved by the removal of redundant data s Image compression is a technique applied on digital images to minimize the size in bytes of a image file without degrading the quality of the image to an unacceptable level in visual perception. newline
