In this modern era metals and alloys are being replaced by fiber reinforced composites Fiber reinforced composites are in demand and considered as replacement for heavy exotic materials Fiber reinforced plastics FRP have a great advantage over other materials owing to their special mechanical properties and low cost Fiber reinforced plastics are generally fabricated using molding technique to a near possible shape thereby reducing their usage in various engineering fields An appreciable increase in the use of fiber reinforced plastics has been possible by drilling and assembling using bolts and nuts The advantage of fiber reinforced plastics can be extended to many fields by obtaining an appreciable surface finish The quality of surface is very important performance in milling as a good quality milled surface significantly improves fatigue strength corrosion resistance and creep life Surface roughness also affects several functional attributes of parts such as wearing heat transmission ability of holding a lubricant coating and resisting fatigue Difficulty arises during milling due to the isotropic and heterogeneous nature of composite materials However excess material needs removal for ensuring the dimensional accuracy Thus machining has become inevitable as it can find application in all sectors In order to overcome this problem a review of the relevant literature was carried out and it was found that there are many parameters that could affect the dimensional and surface properties The need for achieving the required dimensional products in a most economic manner was also seen It has been found that with the help of trial and error the machining of fiber reinforced plastic is possible through proper selection of machining parameters to understand the complexity in obtaining better surface finish with less damage delamination newline
