Abstract: This study aims to explore the concept of the Other, and strives to understand it from various perspectives, specifically the representation of the diasporic Other and the feminine Other in a postcolonial context in the works of the Afghan-American author Khaled Hosseini. It incorporates the conflicts and biases of the writings of a diasporic writer in general and that of Hosseini in particular. It zooms further into his depiction of the women characters in the Islamic nation of Afghanistan who are doubly marginalised because they emerge as the Other to man in a middle-East Islamic country which is already marginalised as the Other in a western-dominated world. It attempts to problematise the issue of misrepresentation of the Other in Hosseini s works and aid the understanding of the modes of legal Orientalism and its effects in the lives and psyche of people. The study aims at the development of a more egalitarian and unbiased sense of international law and justice. newline
