Increased uses of nonlinear loads encouragement to use distributed generations at the consumer premises make the power system fail to sustain quality of the supply Due to this supply voltage and current becomes distorted and contain harmonics which is not good for machineries and applications used by industry domestic and residential consumers In order to mitigate the harmonics filtering schemes such as passive filtering methods active filtering methods and hybrid filtering methods have been preferred in the control of filters In passive filtering scheme filters may consist of inductance and capacitance tuned to eliminate a particular harmonics However it may suffer from the drawbacks such as fixed compensation surge voltage or current production at resonance conditions and high cost Moreover it could be invalidated in realistic situation because of the introduction of current harmonics reactive power and reduced power factor But Active filters are more capable to eliminate more harmonics than the passive filtering schemes Furthermore it has been widely used because of their simple in construction flexibility in control and ability to mitigate most of the power quality problems especially harmonics Hybrid filtering schemes combines both active and passive filtering scheme to get an advantages of both newline
