Abstract: With the emergence of wireless technology, there has been a lot of research carried out in the various application areas due to the vulnerability of the sensor networks. Wireless networks are being utilized as a part of different useful regions and are being composed in a cross breed and application particular way. Hence, it is presently practically difficult to envision a world without wireless networks. Congestion in a network leads to performance degradation. It occurs when the load on the network is more than the capacity of the network based on the number of packet sent. Congestion is a condition communication network where too many packets are present in a part of the subnet. The congestion in the network is sensed by the congestion control algorithms. Congestion control is a significant part of Transmission Control Protocol. The functions of TCP is to build the end-to-end network connection, control the traffic flow, allocate the bandwidth fairly, guarantee the reliability of the link connection, retransmit lost packets, and manage the energy effectively. All these functions can be seriously influenced by network congestion. Congestion control algorithms can ensure Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) work in the optimal operation area. Congestion in wired and wireless network is considered a challenge in the network. Therefore, considering this as the primary focus, this research work proposes to evaluate the framework for congestion control. Initially, analysis and comparison is carried in wired and wireless environment for congestion control. Convergence, Responsiveness, Aggressiveness and smoothness are the prerequisites of congestion control algorithm. For example in internet real time applications, smoothness is newline
