dc.description.abstractAlzheimers Disease AD is the most common fatal and progressive neurological disorder that was assumed to result in dementia learning disabilities and gait inconsistencies AD is found to have a preclinical stage during which the subjects experience changes in their behavioural and psychological abilities Mild Cognitive Impairment MCI is a transitional stage of AD The early identification of MCI is highly essential as it could help in providing the treatments to slow down the progression of AD In this work an attempt is made to analyse the shape changes of the brainstem using regional shape signature and skeletal features from newlineAlzheimers MR brain images The images considered for this analysis are obtained from OASIS database The brainstem is segmented using regional edge and hybrid level set methods The performance of level sets is validated using statistical and overlap measures newline newline
