Abstract

Next to water milk is predominant liquid to our people As per National Dairy Development Boards report January 2015 Milk production in India has been growing at over 4% annually and its share in milk production in the world has increased from about 5% in 1970 to 17.4% in 2012 Among all food industries dairy industry is one of the most polluting industries regarding both the quality and the quantity Wastewater from a dairy industry has high organic content high levels of nutrients oil fats and these are the primary sources of pollution of this type of industry This entire study aims to establish the suitability of Biofilm Membrane Bioreactor BF MBR in treating Dairy wastewater The research study has been carefully performed under five divisions to cover important perspectives of Dairy wastewater and BF MBR The five divisions are Origin and Characterisation of Milk Processing Effluent streams Performance study Bio kinetic Coefficient determination Simulation of the biological processes and Assessing and Mitigating Fouling Phenomenon of Biofilm MBR newline
