Abstract: Nowadays most of the consumers are getting their service done by online access to the service provider with internet connection The technological advancement in internet access has attracted most of business enterprises to launch their service as online service Evolution of Cloud Computing with virtualization is a boon to these service providers as they can launch their service in a virtual platform of the cloud Thereby the service providers can reduce the infrastructure cost of setting the service reduce risk about the maintenance of the service and offer anytime anywhere availability of service which is scalable and reliable At such a situation the responsibility of the service delivery goes to the cloud service provider offering the service Distributed Denial of Service DDoS is a significant threat to the availability of online services This type of attack can be launched on the online service provider virtual resource directly by the intruder as resource depletion or bandwidth exhaustion attack leading to unavailability of service and resources Consumers of cloud service provider have service level agreement made with the provider before service delivery So the unavailability of service cant be accepted by the clients of the cloud service provider The service provider has to detect the intrusions of the distributed denial of service attack and amount of resources made unavailable by the attack at the earliest. newline newline newline
