Abstract: Historical film adaptations are not only an authentic stuff for cultural studies but newlineit enhance to celebrate Nation s Glory. Despite the appreciation, such films newlinecommunicate history in accordance with dominant narratives. Historical film newlineadaptations if decide to diagnose representation as healthy or unhealthy , to newlinedivide it into realist or modernist categorise or to judge it solely as newline historically accurate or inaccurate but these are more interacting process, newlineexploring historical facts either in fictional or biographical forms. Historical films newlineare important, despite the fact that we may find some of them controversial in newlinethe way they depict and represent reality, for other reasons having to do with newlineemotions in memory-data are stored through condensed narrative images and newlinestories. Therefore images in the form of narratives give a stronger intensity in newlinememory pattern, and this makes them easier to activate and recall. It also quite newlineclear that we can much more easily recall events if there is some kind of direct newlineconnection between personal memory and experience, and the more general newlinememory data. So the intensity of the memories, the way in which historical data is newlineexperienced, the amount of emotional embedding, either as traumatic or highly newlinepositive images and narratives can greatly influence our memory and the way newlinerelate to the past. In most of the cases, the films are successful interpretation of newlinepast events, helpful removing wrong impressions of certain conclusions or results, newlineshow the effects of past on present; overall historical film adaptations are the newlinecritique of history which is necessary to forward history knowledge to next newlinegeneration. The present study focuses on historical film adaptations based on newlinemajor traumatic incidents in Indian History: Mutiny 1857, Partition 1947, and newlineNaxal Movement 1968-70.
