dc.description.abstract | The transmutation of water sediments and precious stones on the earth has been the cynosure to mankind since time immemorial. Metamorphosis of minerals ways back to thousands of years ago, i.e., the prehistoric time. Use of gems as sources of ornamentation must have been in practice since the origin of humankind. Technologically too, crystals are the soul of modern operational systems. Current technological industries, more particularly, electronic, photonics, fiber optic communications and microelectronics and optical devices industries would not have been there but for crystals. The recent decades, especially, the present twenty second century, vests its interest in growing crystal and its processes involved therein, particularly in consideration of the most sought after materials applied in technological domains. Nonlinear optical materials are new frontiers of science and technology that has a significant role in the field of photonics. The escalation of research in nonlinear optics is linked to the rapid technological advances in fields, such as Fiber optics, and optical communications. At present there is a great demand in the field of photonics for nonlinear optical material due to their unique ability to temporarily change their optical property when they interact with light. Organic substances have recently been attracting scientific attention in connection with searches for new nonlinear materials for quantum electronics. Organic materials have very high optical nonlinearity, great possibilities for twisting the molecular structure, to engineer the optical properties of crystals, a high resistance to high energy laser beams and are potentially cheaper than their inorganic counterparts. newline | |
