Abstract: | The scientist researchers material experts and industrialist was continually searching of newer materials to enrich the quality of the engineering applications Initially people explored the material from naturally for world usage When the naturally occurred materials did not meet the expected strength or shape for industrial and commercial applications Experts focus turned to finding newer material and different advanced manufacturing like alloys and composite material Alloy are developed by addition of small quantity of metal or non metal rather than the primary constitutions in way to improve the mechanical and other performances With the advent of automobiles and space applications globally using the new age of material were meet the requirement Magnesium is the one of the lightest structural metals with a density of 1.74 g/cm3. However, magnesium is used as a structural metal in an alloyed form and most of the magnesium alloys have a higher density slightly than pure aluminium Magnesium is a reactive metal and is usually found in nature in the form of oxides, carbonate or silicate often in combination with calcium This reactivity is one of the reasons why the production of magnesium metal requires bulk amounts of energy AZ91D Mg alloy with nominal composition of Mg 9 wt % Al 1 wt% Zn is one of the most popular usable cast Mg alloys The typical microstructure of cast AZ91D alloy consists of matrix a-Mg solid solution with segregated and#946;-phase (Mg17Al12) along grain boundaries newline |
