The major challenge in the power distribution planning is to identify the information about the size the location the type and the number of the network elements This research addresses the different combinations of network reconfiguration installation of Distribution Generation DG and compensating devices to find an optimum solution in the Radial Distribution System RDS The objective of this work includes power loss reduction voltage profile improvement minimizing Load Balancing Index LBI and improving the Voltage Stability Index VSI For simulation purposes IEEE 33 IEEE 69 bus and real time RDS in India are used Power distribution systems are becoming large and complex leading to higher system losses and poor voltage regulation D STATCOM installation in the distribution system would be one of the optimal solutions In this work the weak buses are identified through various indices for the D¬STATCOM placement Besides five different sensitivity methods are analysed to examine the weak bus for optimal allocation of D STATCOM with a size of 500 kVAr Also in this work multi objective has been achieved by the placement of D STATCOM in the distribution system The computational results have shown that the performance of the novel voltage stability index is better than that of the other sensitivity approaches in terms of quality solutions newline newline newline
