dc.description.abstract | Technologically important transition metal oxide nanocrystalline materials have received much attention due to their potential combination of grain and grain boundary contributions to their physical properties In view of this transition metal oxide nanocrystalline materials such as CeO2 TiO2 and some of micron sized materials such as MoO3 and V2O5 were selected to carry out the present research work newlineThe doctoral thesis has been divided into seven chapters including Review Experimental Techniques and Scope for the Future Research Chapter 1 comprises a brief review of the state of art and technological importance of transition metal oxide nanocrystalline materials and their applications This chapter mainly deals with dielectric properties of transition metal oxide nanocrystalline materials and how they can be tailored by grain and grain boundary contribution The mechanism applied to explain the behaviors by various researchers include Grain boundary double Schottky potential barrier height model Brick layer model and so on The review clearly demonstrates how the materials are tailored for technological applications Chapter 2 describes the experimental characterization techniques which are used in our research work to analyze nanocrystalline ceria CeO2 and nanocrystalline titania TiO2 as well as micro nanocomposite between micro MoO3 or V2O5 with TiO2 nanocrystals The structural and micro structural analysis are performed using X-ray diffraction XRD Transmission Electron Microscope TEM Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope FESEM Atomic Force Microscopy AFM and also spectroscopic properties are performed using FTIR Raman spectroscopy newline newline | |
