Abstract: | The monolithic alloys and alloys have been utilized in almost all newlineapplications across various sectors that still demand excellence in their newlineproperties in terms of the strength, durability and so on. Continuous research newlinein the materials leads to the invention of new materials, new methods, new newlinemanufacturing processes etc., which transforms the standard of living to a newlinenewer prospect decade after decade. The challenging environment today newlinerequires increasing demand of newer materials that fit remarkably well in the newlineapplications.Metal Matrix Composites (MMC) find their presence well in the newlineplace where monolithic metals and alloys fall short to meet the requirements. newlineThe remarkable properties of the MMCs include high strength-to-density newlineratio, wear resistance, fatigue resistance, higher electrical and thermal newlineconductivities, transverse stiffness, electrical and thermal conductivities, newlineradiation resistance, low creep rate and so on. MMCs are widely used in the newlineapplication areas where enhanced properties are required such as high newlinestiffness-to-weight ratio in aerospace industries, high corrosion resistance in newlinemarine applications, good temperature workability in space applications etc., newlineThe fabrication of Aluminium Matrix Composites (AMCs) with ceramic newlinereinforcements has caught the attention of researchers nowadays. The newlineaddition of more than one reinforcement in aluminium alloy matrix leads to newlinethe fabrication of hybrid composite. Conventional welding processes are not newlinefeasible at times for the AMCs owing to the set properties that react in a newlinediverse manner. Friction stir welding (FSW) offers a better choice of joining newlineof AMCs that eliminates the problems of conventional fusion welding newlineprocesses. newline newline |
