Abstract: | Pulse Width Modulation PWM based dc dc converters are widely newlineused in industrial applications such as dc motor drives computer systems newlineaerospace systems and communication equipments They are basically newlinenon linear systemswhich need to be averaged and linearized to obtain linear newlinetime invariant models The design of high performance control for the newlineconverters is a challenging issue In general a good control system for dc dc newlineconverters should ensure stability at all operating conditions and should newlineproduce desired response in terms of rejection of load variations supply newlinevoltage changes and parameter uncertainties This thesis presents and newlinedemonstrates an array of dc dc converter design and control techniques for newlinelow and medium power applications A major problem arises in the controller design when the transfer function of control to output voltage of dc dc converters has a right half plane newline RHP zero The presence of RHP zero creates an additional phase lag in the newlinesystem thereby restricting the closed loop bandwidth The movement of RHP newlinezero in the complex s plane due to the change in operating point further newlinecomplicates the controller design Hence, in this work the design of linear and newlinenonlinear controllers for a dc dc boost converter with RHP zero is considered newlineTo improve the dynamic response and to reduce the effects of RHP zero a newlinesimple but robust approach of linear proportional plus integral plus derivative newline PID controller design using Synthesis method is presented newline newline |
