Abstract: | Global warming is one of the major scientific, social and economical issues of newlinetwenty-first century. It has large ecological and human impacts including change newlinein precipitation, reduction in rainfall in the subtropics, more frequent and intense newlineextreme weather events, rise in sea levels, increase in the incidence of vector-borne newlinediseases, heat waves, etc. If no actions are taken for mitigation of global warming, newlineit may severely threaten global food and fresh water supply. Thus, it is vital to newlinedevise strategies for the mitigation of global warming. The root cause of global newlinewarming is the enhancement in the atmospheric concentration of greenhouse gases newlinedue to human activities. Carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) are the prime newlineanthropogenic greenhouse gases. Thus, for mitigation of global warming, reduction newlinein the atmospheric concentration of these gases is imperative. For this purpose, a newlineprofound understanding of various factors influencing the atmospheric concentration newlineof these gases and their effects on the dynamics of these gases is requisite. In this newlinethesis, some nonlinear mathematical models are proposed to study the impact of newlinecertain crucial factors on the dynamics of atmospheric CO2 and CH4. newlineThe first chapter of the thesis is introductory. It consists a brief introduction newlineabout the phenomena to be modeled, review of the relevant literature and the newlinemethodology used for the analysis of the proposed models. newline |
