Abstract: | Solid Waste Management (SWM) is becoming serious problem in newlinedeveloping countries like India. It s not working accurately in India. There are newlineseveral techniques that are used for solid waste treatment such as biological newlinetreatment, composting and recycling etc. But the landfill is considered to be the newlinecheapest method of solid waste disposal. This work describes the use of Multi newlineCriteria Decision Making (MCDM) tools for the selection of suitable site for the newlinedisposal of solid waste in Najaf governorate. Several criteria have been newlineconsidered in each of these location (eg: legal impact, economic, environmental, newlinesocial, monitoring quality) to select to select the best site. Different MCDM newlinemethods used in this work are Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), Technique newlineOf Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solutions(TOPSIS) andPreference newlineRanking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluation(PROMETHEE II). newlineWith the help of the proposed decision making frame work, the high and low newlinesuitable areas were determined. The basic concept of TOPSIS is to selects the alternative that is the newlineclosest to the ideal solution and farthest from negative ideal alternative.TOPSIS newlineassumes that we have m alternatives (options) and n criteria. Therefore, it is easy newlineto define the ideal and negative-ideal solutions. The Euclidean distance approach newlineis used to evaluate the relative closeness of the alternatives to the ideal solution. newlineThus, the preference order of the alternatives can be built by a series of newlinecomparison of these relative distances. Generally the decision maker wants to newlinehave a maximum value among the alternatives. In case of cost criteria, the newlinedecision newline newline |
