Abstract: The effect of passive control devices in the form of mechanical tab newlinefixed at the nozzle exit on the mixing characteristics of subsonic sonic and newlinesupersonic jets at different levels of expansion has been investigated in this newlinethesis The centreline decay Mach profiles normal to the tab and along the newlinetab jet spread for the subsonic and correctly expanded sonic jets have been newlineinvestigated with three different tabs namely arcin arcout and rectangular newlineshapes For a supersonic jet Mach number centreline pitot pressure decay for newlineunderexpanded and overexpanded conditions have also been studied The newlineabove analyses have been carried out using the pitot pressure measured along newlinethe jet axis and at different points in the planes normal to the jet axis newline newline
