Chromium nickel copper and lead are the most important and newlinewidely used toxic heavy metals in electroplating chemical industries which newlinemake them important heavy metals to be considered Therefore it is necessary newlineto develop an efficient process for the treatment of the industrial effluents newlinebearing these heavy metals for their recovery A variety of separation newlinetechniques have been employed for treating heavy metal containing wastes newlineLiquid liquid extraction LLE and liquid membrane LM technologies have newlinegained considerable interest LM is water insoluble organic liquid which newlineseparates two aqueous phases namely feed phase initially containing the newlinedesired solute and a recovery or stripping phase into which the solute is newlineextracted In the present work transport studies of Cr VI Ni2 Cu2 and Pb2 newlineions from an aqueous feed solution through a flat type SLM was carried out newlineThe influence of pH on the source phase effect of concentration of receiving newlinePhase stirring speed effect of initial metal ion concentration feed to strip newlineratio and influence of support characteristics were studied The stability of the newlinedeveloped SLM was also determined for the reuse of SLM newlineen_US
