Abstract: The present study aims to explore the effect of constructivist approach of teaching social science on academic achievement and social competence in relation to students perception of classroom environment on sample of 160 students of CBSE affiliated schools of Ludhiana district of Punjab. Experimental method was employed to conduct the study. Major findings of the study reveal that the constructivist approach has significant effect on the achievement of IX Class students in social science and social competence. Students differing in perception of classroom environment have significant effect on their achievement in social science. newline
