A study on the influence of environmental uncertainity and supply chain practices on supply chain flexibility competitive advantage and organisational performance

Abstract

This research is a study of the environmental uncertainty supply chain newlinePractices supply chain flexibility competitive advantage and organizational newlineperformance of small manufacturing firms in Tamil Nadu newlineValid and reliable measures of Environmental uncertainty supply newlinechain practices and supply chain flexibility competitive advantage and newlineorganizational performance were adapted from previous studies with minor newlinemodifications A new sub construct involving logistics sub construct under newlinesupply chain practices was developed and validated The survey was newlineconducted on 75 respondents from small manufacturing firms in Coimbatore newlineThe firms were involved in manufacturing castings auto components newlineGarments Rigorous statistical methods were used to access and validate the newlineConstructs The methods used were reliability analysis and structural equation newlinemodeling using PLS path modeling software newlineThe research findings support the notion that better supply chain newlinepractices lead to a better supply chain flexibility which in turn implies more newlinecompetitive advantage for the company and hence a better organizational newlineperformance The surprising part is that higher environmental uncertainty newlineleads to better supply chain practices which means that the manufacturing newlinefirms are being proactive to survive newline newline
