Sustainable Development Management in Yeman in the Light of Indian Development Experiences

Abstract

Unplanned development will inevitably lead to depletion of resources and destruction of the environment, the capital of humanity. Hence, the need to modify the traditional concept of development in associating it to sustainability, and the achievement of and#8215;sustainable development has become the ultimate goal of the nations. newlineThe principle of sustainable development (SD) embodies a road map toward securing the present and the future of the community and all mankind. It does provide valuable ideas for the ideal utilization of the sources and sustaining them. The philosophy of sustainable development aims at providing the needs of the current generation and developing its living conditions in a way that does not affect the needs of the future generations. In order to achieve the sustainable development, there must be an effective and responsible management of the Governmental and the Private sectors to orient their activities properly in quest of fulfillment of the sustainable development goals for the society. newlineAn extensive survey of the previous studies has been done to help determining the research gap, which takes the form of studying the concept of and#8215;sustainable development management , for which the first part of chapter II has been devoted. The theoretical framework is presented in the second part of the same chapter. newlineAccording to the nature of the current study, which is a comparative descriptive study between the Republic of Yemen and the Republic of India, it is necessary to provide preliminary information about both countries. Both are eastern countries in the continent of Asia, sharing its cultural and historical heritage. Regarding the development indicators, Yemen was ranked 154 among the least developed countries whereas India ranked 134 among the medium developed countries, according to the human development report Sustainability and Equity: a better future for all, held in 2011 by United Nation Development Program. newlineIn order to serve the purpose of presenting a general picture, the study in the first ch
